Building Paw Profile: Your Pet's Health Companion

After moving multiple times and dealing with a sick dog who needed several specialists and emergency vets, I learned how crucial it is to have medical records instantly accessible. Juggling paperwork between different clinics while managing a pet health crisis showed me there had to be a better way.

Paw Profile is the app I built to solve this problem. As a solo developer who's been through the stress of pet emergencies and relocations, I created a mobile tool that keeps everything organized and accessible when you need it most.

What It Does

Paw Profile keeps everything in one place: vaccination records, medication schedules, vet visits, and even milestone memories. Built for real-life scenarios, it works offline (perfect for basement exam rooms), handles multiple pets seamlessly, and includes smart medication reminders so you never miss a dose.

The app is particularly helpful during emergencies or relocations—all critical information is instantly accessible when every second counts.

The Tech Behind It

I chose React Native to deliver a native experience on both iOS and Android from a single codebase. TypeScript caught bugs before users ever could, while Firebase handles secure cloud sync and offline persistence. With i18n built in from day one, the app works globally—whether you're tracking milliliters or ounces.

Why I Built It

After wrestling with paper records and forgotten medication schedules one too many times, I realized our pets deserve better than our disorganization. Paw Profile is my answer to that—a tool that makes responsible pet ownership just a little bit easier.

The app is now live on iOS and Android, helping pet owners stay organized and prepared. Because when it comes to our furry family members, being ready matters.
