Portfolio spotlight: Jenzabar Chatbot
I worked with Jenzabar from 2023 to 2024 on the Chatbot and Analytics team. The product I worked on for most of this time was the Chatbot admin dashboard, where admins from higher education could monitor chatbot use, manage settings and visibility for staff, and communicate directly with students.
Our stack was React, Material UI, React Admin (which I single handedly scrapped for more modern components), and Typescript. Our LLM was custom built by another team member and I was part of the conversations around guardrails for convos, interfaces for the Chatbot, and accessibility standards.
My biggest contribution to this product
I worked with a small team of five with this product and we all wore many hats. I had a lot of discussions with our UX Designer to produce our front end interfaces and offered technical feedback and component options with our chosen library and what needed to be custom.
Something that I'm most proud of in this role was starting an accessibility audit on our products. We were an agile team with a strict timeline, so I had to fight for this to be prioritized but once I shared with the team what was lacking, they all agreed it needed some love. When I joined, our admin dashboards weren't responsive to different screen sizes and our branded colors were not passing contract checkers; those were obvious to me with my first pass through of the app, but I knew there were more issues that weren't so obviously spotted.
With this role, I was tasked with completely rebuilding the front end of this product using more modern libraries and frameworks. Since I had to go feature by feature, page by page, I was able to add in more audits for accessibility as well and by the time I left, the entire Chatbot ecosystem was up to code and running at much faster speeds.
